Math Club News
On March 18th, the 2022 Pitt Integration Bee took place in Alumni Hall 343, organized by the Math Club and Dr. Linhong Wang, hosted by Stephen Arndt. They were very excited to have 69 Pitt undergraduates join the competition. After the pre-qualifying round and the show case rounds, 8 made it to the qualifying round. Among them 4 finalists were selected to head in the tournament for the head-to-head competition. The first and second brackets raced through the integrals $\int \f{dx}{\sqrt{x}-\sqrt{x-1}} \ dx$ and $\int 2x\tan(x^2)\ln(\cos (x^2)) \ dx$. The final bracket was ended by the integral $\log_{2022}(e^{\sqrt{x}) \f{\ln(2022)}{x} \ dx$.
Our four winners in order, JOSH ASCHER (who took the 2022 Champion T-shirt), SANTHOSH DONEPUDI, TIBERIO CARICCHIO, and VICTORIA CHUAH, all shared $200 in bookstore certificates, generously donated by the Honors College, as a reward for their integration performance. Congratulations to all of them, and to all the competitors, who showed impressive integration talent!
THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this event in any way!!! It was great to have such enthusiastic 150+ contestants and audience members. Some of them walked away with top-notch door prizes.
