We are excited to announce that Volume 2 of Pitt’s mathematics journal, Pittsburgh Interdisciplinary Mathematics Review (PIMR), has now been published! Among many stimulating features, Volume 2 includes an introduction to the mathematics of machine learning by Dr. Stephan Wojtowytsch, which assumes only familiarity with multi-variable calculus and linear algebra, and a fascinating history of the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Mathematics by Dr. Stuart Hastings, Professor Emeritus.
PIMR provides a venue for the publication of research and expository articles on topics in mathematics and its applications for a readership that includes, but is not limited to, undergraduates. The journal is online, peer-reviewed, open access, and completely run by a Pitt undergraduate team, and is available here:
