Abstract or Additional Information

In 1858, Helmholtz predicted that two ring formed vortex-filaments to Euler fluid would pass through each other alternately and become leapfrogging. In this talk, I will present a rigorous proof of this conjecture. The key idea is a new gluing method applied to desingularization of vortex/vortex filaments to 2D or 3D Euler flow. I will also discuss the existence of traveling pairs of vortex  rings to 3D Euler equation.
