I study the connection between topology and geometry among low-dimensional manifolds, particularly those of dimension two or three.  For example, I have recently worked on classifying hyperbolic 3-manifolds with totally geodesic boundary and very low volume.  I am also interested in related questions from algebraic geometry, geometric group theory, and the study of geometric flows, among others.
