Abstract or Additional Information

We prove max norm estimates for the lowest order Taylor-Hood finite elements in three dimensions. Previous max-norm analysis required a local Fortin projeciton. However, for the lowest order Taylor-Hood element such a projection is not known. Instead we use a local inf-sup condition. This is joint work with Manuel Sanchez-Uribe.
