Survey on the metric theory of BLD-mappings

Mappings of Bounded Length Distortion are a class of mappings first defined as a subclass of the so called quasiregular mappings. In this talk we give a survey on the more metric approach to BLD mappings -- they can be naturally approached as non-homeomorphic generalizations of bilipschitz mappings or as branching covering maps.
