AWM Mission:
The purpose of the Association for Women in Mathematics is to encourage women to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, to promote equal opportunity as well as promote, educate, and support women in mathematics.
University of Pittsburgh's AWM student chapter creates opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gather and support one another by providing a space to discuss issues pertaining to women in mathematics.

Girls Summer Math Camp at the University of Pittsburgh
This 5-day long event was aimed at female high school students in the greater Pittsburgh area with the objective to spark the interest in mathematics among female pupils and contribute to the development of future female scientists. Here is another description in Pitt News.

CMU AWM/SEDIM (Association for Women in Mathematics/Student Events for Diversity in Mathematics, Carnegie Mellon University) hosted an event on November 5 from 2:00-6:00 PM in WEH 7500. The event touched on the speakers' careers and research as well as on aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion that are relevant to them and their work.

Dr. Jennifer A. Loe obtained her PhD in Mathematics in 2020 from Baylor University. Her research focuses on the study of Numerical Analysis. Jennifer will give a technical talk on the GMRES linear solver, followed by a story of journey to a national lab. Bring your own coffee!

Prof. Danielli obtained her PhD in Mathematics in 1999 from Purdue University. Her research focuses on the study of analytic and geometric properties of PDEs, and on variational inequalities. Prof. Jimenez Bolanos obtained her PhD in 2010 from Louisiana State University. Her research centers on PDEs and Multiscale Analysis. She is currently an Associate Professor at Colgate University in upstate New York. Professor Jimenez-Bolanos will speak about her own career trajectory as well as answer questions about strategies for applying for jobs in liberal arts colleges, juggling the two-body problem, and many more.
